First Day of Fall!
First, I’d been looking for an excuse to play with fondant, so I made an autumn leaf cake. It came out pretty well, especially considering how much I tried to mangle it by being impatient and trying to take the cakes out before they were cool. The leaves looked pretty awesome, even if I do say so myself.
I also made a french apple tart, which I saw on America’s Test Kitchen, and it smelled pretty good (though I don’t like apples, so I didn’t eat any).
There are some other great things in the works as well – my awesome #pitchwars mentor, Sarah Cannon, is looking over my current edits as we speak. (Something I’m trying not to think on too hard.) and we’ll see what she says. Honestly, I’m terrified I haven’t done enough. She’s been gentle so far, sending me things in bits. I like that, but now I’m convinced I haven’t done enough and she’ll somehow realize the horrible mistake she’s made in choosing me. But I’m keeping my fingers crossed and hoping for the best.
I’m also working hard to make the Hampton Roads Teen Book Festival happen again this year, only bigger and better! Time will tell – but here’s hoping!
What part of fall is your favorite? I’d love to know!
