Halfway Point!

Halfway Point!

Its the halfway point for NaNoWriMo! Are you as far behind as I am? I mean, I’ve been busting it to try and catch up, but I’m not sure I’m gonna make it. This story is not coming fast. Its a slow, plodding adventure. Which is interesting, because I’ve been thinking on this story for MONTHS. Seriously. I thought it was going to be easy to write. Except that I did what I normally do and managed to somehow screw up where I was heading, so the novel had taken a totally different turn.

Its not bad, it just threw a kink in the works. I suppose that’s why I identify with being a “Plantster.” One who has a plan, but also doesn’t have a firm plan so you can be more flexible. (For me, that means, I have a good idea where I”m going, but I’m not entirely sure… SQUIRREL!)

All the same, the story is getting there. I’m making progress, and that’s the important thing, right? To me, as long as you make serious progress on whatever you work on, you’re a “winner” in NaNoWriMo. Its less about word count and more about getting the words out, on a page, and proving to yourself (or reminding yourself) that you can do it.

So stop reading this, close twitter and FB (yeah, we know you have them open), and go write something! At least five minutes. Then you can be distracted for another ten minutes or so.

Or is that just me? 🙂
